Plastic is everywhere, in bottles, packaging and many other everyday objects. Yet, not all plastics are created equal. Plastics are a large family of different materials, each with its own properties, and health and environmental impacts. The Society of the Plastics Industry thus introduced a classification system consisting of a number from 1 to 7 in a triangle. In this series, additionally to its identification code each type of plastic is assigned a colour. The aim is to compile an overview of the plastic types pervasive in our lives and to provide information to support consumer decisions.

Daria Martinoni is a non-professional photographer working and living in Zurich, Switzerland. As a Geographer, she uses photography to playfully (de)construct urban spaces, to spatially re-stage urban contexts, and to play with our perception of space and reality. She experiments with long shutter speeds and several zoom settings or camera positions in one exposure. With this approach, she aimes at questioning our making of the world through experience and knowledge.
