Vila 121 Apartment

PrizeHonorable Mention in Interior Design
ArtistFlavio Castro

The most important piece of this project is the bookshelf in corten steel that divides the social and private area. It configures the space and provides niches for storage and display of objects. The social area interacts strongly with the kitchen, which works almost like an extension of the living room, eliminating the barrier between social and service area. The color, size and language of each piece were carefully determined, so the atmosphere was consistent with the sensations sought in each environment. It’s a contemporary apartment. Bedrooms follow the same idea, with specific design pieces for a free appropriation of the space. For the common area on the roof, we chose design pieces that provide social interaction.

Flavio Castro had the opportunity to start designing and building early, with only 20 years old. Flavio defends that practical experience completes academic theory, and has always worked in these two areas, with experience in architectural firms inside and outside Brazil. After three years of Masters in Barcelona, he returned to Brazil and settled in São Paulo, founding FCstudo in 2009. The collaboration system that exists within the office allows a constant exchange of information among professionals who join the team depending on each project´s demand.
