This off the grid house is set in an olive grove, and is like a pavilion, with daytime and nighttime functions spread over two wings making the most of solar orientation and views of the surrounding natural park. The regulatory sloping roof is a sculptural element, with a steel cornice hiding the gutter and giving the house a contemporary appearance, creating an engawa in the process, to mediate between inside and outside. Carefully designed shading devices and overhangs protect the house from overheating, along with a striking rammed earth wall throughout the house, which adds thermal mass.
