11 x 19 ft. Construction metal, chicken wire, calligraphic practice sheets, motor, rubbish Painting is a screen for the maker and audience to observe each other across different points in time. Both sides often only see the surface, not the destruction, debris, and rebuilding that is involved in creation. Strange Loops is a shadow theatre installation about the construction of image-making. It shows the narrative of a single puppet going through the repetitive acts of life: eating, sleeping, working. Powered by a motor, the sequence loops, like these acts we must all perform to be alive.
