This is the redesign and reconstruction of a 1975 condominium building in central Tokyo. The revitalization study took 10 years to solve the problems of the original building such as decrepitude. To create open space and reduce the impact of the high rise, the building cover ratio was reduced by 60%, and the building angled toward the street. It achieved a rich 3 dimensional streetscape uniting the town, buildings, and greenery, and creating a pleasant sunlit environment. Geometric patterns expressed in the eaves and walls of the facade represent the hard bedrock characteristic of this area.
