Main charachteristics of the new residential complex had been set in advance: two buildings 64 and 37 meters high (17 and 8 storeys) had to be built at one side of the ordinary city square overburdened with mismatching buildings of different shape and colour. Close location of two old historic houses made of red brick in Russian Revival style encouraged Skuratov`s team for active use of clinker brick in order to cope with local architectural chaos. New complex needed strong material emphasis as well as bright spatial concept.
