Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, large cities have lost their sparkle and people were deprived from their social habits. Vibrant neighbourhoods such as Paris' Pigalle, Tokyo's Shibuya, New York City's Chinatown, London's Borough Market, Hong Kong's Prince Edwards, Singapore's Lau Pa Sat or Hanoi market were places of life, drama and encounters, all forced into hibernation. This creative photographic collage project aiming at restoring colour which has faded for too long in our beloved capitals, it conveys hope at a time that most countries are willing to move on from the pandemic.

Bio
Joel is a French visual artist and photographer. His passion was rooted in early childhood, having grown up in a family of photographers. He finds inspiration from places and cultures where he lives and travels. Having settled in multiple continents has shaped his eye and photographic expression to be fascinated by contrasts, conflicts and interactions between people, saturated urban environments, and Nature. Collage techniques of overlapping photographs help him express these complicated relationships.
