I have traveled extensively in the American South for the past three years. History lessons long forgotten came back as my routes wound through civil war sites, rickety small towns, and monuments to horrors that haunt our nation to this day. No matter the view, utilizing landscapes and interiors of local attractions seemed the most neutral way to collect impressions of a place. My photos record my efforts to learn more about the central struggle that still weighs heavily on our nation and continues to weave its way through our current culture like so much kudzu.
