The day before the coronation
London was awash with Union Jacks, on flags, on hats and on shoes the day before the coronation of Charles III, as people explored the scene around Mall, some preparing to spend the night, and others, temporary workers, confronted the confusion of security checkpoints and barriers. Tilework in stations and subways commemorated the once-in-a-lifetime event that brought in tourists from foreign lands and created a buzz that could not fail to impress, no matter what one's opinions of the monarchy might be.
Bio I began photography and darkroom printing in London in the 1960s and retired from an academic career in Montana to pursue my love of art, as well as landscape and candid street photography. In the 1980s, I developed a unique process of drawing using a light table and contact printing my translucent “inter-positives” directly onto Cibachrome polymer medium. The resulting original art prints were super-high gloss, high contrast, with intense colours reminiscent of stained glass. I have since adapted this process, producing Type-C prints on Fujiflex Crystal Archive for similarly stunning results.
