    The WAAV is a marriage of three influences. It is an homage to the Wave Trolley Project once slated for Downtown Fort Lauderdale. When that project was terminated the site was sold to the Housing Authority where a significant Affordable Housing Project was built. Located along the East Coast Railroad and adjacent to some abandoned spurs, aesthetic inspiration and meaning were found. The piece is also a nod to the beautiful waves of Ft Lauderdale Beach and a gesture to the seemingly lost tradition of waving to passing trains. Making it part of the entry to the building was a found opportunity.
