This piece represents my artistic endeavor as a stone painter in dealing with certain questions. Does the painted stone convey an image where the proportions and color-tones are right regardless of what angle you look at the stone from? Does the form of the stone, its cavities and bulges thwart the outcome or do they as they ideally should, make the picture more truthful. In this process I had the expressive aspect of the flower in mind and I wanted to get to grips with the irregular and rough stone, in order to create a harmonious whole where every sunflower stands out in its own way.

Bio
I am a self-taught artist whose interest in natural stones turned me to a form of stone painting that makes the stone entity, per se, visible and communicative. In that sense I go for a sculptural dimension by painting the stone to highlight its qualities. In fact my art form could be situated in the middle ground of painting and sculpture. I aim to a realistic creation by making use of the form, the size, the consistency, the texture and the color shift of a stone. In this way I am able to express myself and create meanings. I use crude nature stones not processing (fixing) them in any way.
