“Near Misses” represents the increasing ambiguity and complexity of our relationship with media. By mimicking the iconic NASA asteroids, my project draws attention to the ease with which people form uncritical perceptions based on visual signifiers. By presenting terrestrial rocks that resemble asteroids and meteorites, I challenge viewers to question assumptions and the limitations of perception. Truth is not always as easily discernible as it may seem.
