    Months ago, I discovered my elderly Japanese neighbor, a casual acquaintance, was moving. The day of his departure revealed an unusual sight - family members removing an astonishing amount of trash. Intrigued, I discovered he suffered from Diogenes syndrome, and his home, due to garbage accumulation, humidity, and poor ventilation, was a disaster. Confirming my suspicions, the community president invited me inside.
