Still
"Still" is a series of various characters caught in questionable moments. It is a captured slice in time that leads the viewer to wonder what happened before and what will happen next; is she the victim or the villain. Modern images are combined with vintage scratchy film negatives to create untold stories, while experimenting with different types of lighting to generate visually stunning effects in darkened environments. The inspiration for each character is drawn upon the film noir femme fatale, as well as the exploration of the self through personas, imagined identities & art portraiture.
Bio I continuously work on 3 main projects in my photography practice: 1) a 25 year project of various characters caught in questionable moments (inspired by the femme fatal in film noire), 2) modern images combined with vintage film negatives to create stories in an imagined time and space, 3) night photography. I experiment with different types of lighting to create various effects in darkened environments which is inspired by chiaroscuro. Nature is one of my favorite backgrounds & I often brave the elements to get the desired shot. I am the model, photographer, lighting director,& makeup artist
