I got into street photography when I was still using film. Ilford black and white was my film of choice. Street photography was supposed to be gritty, akin to film noir. The street photographers I admired made black and white images. Going digital, I had the luxury of doing color photos before converting them to black and white. It was a revelation. Times Square became an explosion of colors. A homeless person on the street is the film noir image that should be done in black and white. Color creates an incongruous and often disturbing vision. This is my take on the colors of the streets.
