An imaginary spotlight illuminates the seabed revealing the dramatic state of a now dead ecosystem. The buoys are rocks on the seabed, covered with encrustations and bleached corals. In the limelight, however, slightly brighter colours appear, while in the darkness the deep colors show the living sea, as we romantically imagine it and as it should be. It's as if the limelight were our present, a delicate moment and a small window of time to decide what our future will be. The spotlight represents Science, which brings to light the global reality, and our seas'imminent danger.
Bio Eco-artivist, ‘Rubbish artist’ and mosaicist, Francesca pioneers sustainable art by creating her artworks entirely out of waste. Her quest is to push the boundaries of both craft & art, act as a catalyst for sustainability and provoke real Change. Torn between optimism and surrender, she believes in a future through systemic re-thinking. Every tessera she creates is a protest against our disposable lifestyle and embodies hope. Gesamtkunstwerk, her eco-artivism encompasses every aspect of her life, from veganism to renewables, second-hand (…) to not flying, as she strives to walk the talk.
