The series is an exploration of mathematical space in traditional Chinese ink painting in modern art. Inspired by the graphic generated by the graphing calculator during her mandatory mathematics class of Multivariable Calculus, the artist tries to capture the depth and spatial quality through the illusional 2d “capture” of the 3d graphs by the intensity of ink and the density of grid lines. The original graphics are computer-generated. The series was painted on rice paper with ink, representing the landscape quality, while detailed with blueprint lines to emphasize the scientific “illusion”
