Commissioned by the National Tennis Center for the 2024 tournament, sculptor Yuan Zhuang oversaw every detail, from concept to production. Between Force and Stillness is an abstract sculpture inspired by a tennis ball, composed of 24 spheres symbolizing natural rhythms and cycles of time. Drawing from the Tao Te Ching, it explores the harmony between motion and stillness—motion representing energy and change, and stillness symbolizing balance and tranquility. The design invites reflection on nature, time, and space, infused with deep Chinese philosophical meaning.
