The design of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre Khorog draws its inspiration and design vocabulary from the vernacular architecture of the area, the majestic Poplar trees, its spectacular setting in the heart of the Pamir Mountains in Tajikistan, local materials and construction techniques. It is designed as a grand pavilion along the river and becomes a focal point for the community. Local labour and craftsmanship are used to create benefits of employment,makes the building environmentally,economically and culturally sustainable by creating local employment and celebrating local traditions.
