THIS IS THE PLACE is a series of large scale, color photographs showcasing fading farmland structures playing in the space between minimalist art and photography. By slightly abstracting the photographs, my intent is to guide the viewer to engage with these elemental forms of nuanced color & texture as they interact with a unique atmosphere of land and sky. Each image has been placed inside a polaroid inspired border. Polaroids speak to nostalgia and travelogue; their essence both fleeting and disposable, much like the iconic farmlands on open land today.
Bio Wendel Wirth is an American contemporary fine art photographer living in Ketchum, Idaho. She is interested in the space between minimalist art and photography. Inspired by the paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe, her work finds its home somewhere between abstraction and reality ultimately pushing the viewers attention beyond the subject and celebrating the most essential elemental aspects of the photograph. Wirth received her MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, graduating Magna Cum Laude and her BFA from Denison University. Wirth is an Idaho Commission on the Arts Fellow.
