Island of the Blue Dolphins Book Cover Design

For my Illustration class we were asked to make a book cover design for a book of our choosing. I chose Island of the Blue Dolphins and tried to make it center around the main character Karana and the feral dog that became her only companion, Rontu, after she was left by herself on San Nicholas island for 18 years. I used many resources from the internet to help weave together a design that encompassed important parts of the book. I was influenced by a sketch by the artist Agence Eureka, and a lot of clip art, to create a new design that mimicked hers but made related to the story.
