Poems inherently have a veiling effect. These poems are a raw telling of stifled emotions to a present-less audience. But when the words that make up the poems are scratched out, then what is the reader left to read? They have no audience. As paintings, they are given a new presence that is for everyone to see. As writing, they are an exploration of gut emotions, providing a platform for healing. In essence, the act of painting gives the poems an audience. The work is about letting the reader in to the most personal part of a life, where one can look, but cannot touch.
