    This private beachfront home’s significant challenges were design code requirements to be met. (1)Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) required all sand from excavation of piles, pile caps, spa, and pool to remain within site. (2) City code required all construction to collapse under lateral loading forces without causing damage to the building by floodwaters. (3) City code requirement to keep all runoff waters within the site. The landscape architect provided design solutions that promote environmental diversification and achieve environmental sustainability.
