Urban Hieroglyphics
Over the years, skateboarding has brought me all over the country in search of new terrain, and to document the local scenes. Whether on the edges of some far-out town or in the gutters of dense city streets, these environments have acted as a canvas for generations of counter-cultural expression. The shapes and gestures seen in tagging/graffiti have always reminded me of the marks left by skateboards. It could be from wall rides or paint pens, grind marks or spray cans - both express an orchestrated chaos thats all about style and aggression. An attitude towards society.
Bio Skateboarding is the foundation to who I am, giving me a unique perspective of the world ever since childhood. Over the years, I have worked to perfect my skills as a visual storyteller and professional creative. Currently working as a photo specialist on an R&D team, I continue to pursue my personal work in my free time. Whether it be shooting editorial skateboarding photos for Thrasher Magazine, putting together DIY zines, or simply capturing my life's most important moments in beautiful silver halide; photography will always be how I explore and learn in this crazy world.
