The Fantasyland, this project suggests a re-imagining of traditional notions of fantasy and escapism. The combination of familiar and fantastical elements creates a sense of wonder and curiosity, encouraging viewers to immerse themselves in the scene and explore its many layers of meaning. The presence of well-known characters and symbols from both Eastern and Western cultures highlights the artist’s interest in blending different cultural traditions and creating a new, unified visual language.
Bio Dr. Vinci Weng, a distinguished artist and associate professor of fine art, has garnered attention for his innovative approach to visual storytelling. His work re-thinks the concept of a ‘cinematographic’ picture, seamlessly blending East-West pictorial traditions while navigating the boundaries between realism and surrealism. Weng does not use AI-generated tools nor stock images, only relying on complex manipulations of his own photographic images captured on locations. His idea, plan, post-production and photographs are all seamlessly connected in order to achieve the final visual strength.
