These handmade balloons are made with a thicker head and a thinner tail, allowing them to flutter freely in the wind. They continue to move across the pond, guided only by the natural wind and water, symbolizing the beauty of unpredictable events beyond human control. The chosen overall form and movement of the artwork, reminiscent of a school of fish, draws inspiration from her childhood memories of observing fish in the sea. This organic motion parallels the uncontrollable power of nature, celebrating the act of surrendering to natural forces.

Bio
Yumeo Nakayama is a Tokyo-based artist making outdoor art works. A common theme in her work is the "feeling that we are living on the Earth." The characteristics of the motifs and other features extracted from her design perspective are what make up her works. By installing her works outdoors, she aims to create a peaceful space in that location. She hopes viewers “feel as if they are actually confronting animals and the natural environment." Her inspirations for her artwork come from her own personal experiences and include a deep respect for flora and fauna.
