    Named after the Japanese word for garden, Nakaniwa blends traditional and modern elements, creating a serene, immersive architectural experience. Two non-parallel rectangles are connected by a central garden that serves as the heart of the home and a dynamic lightwell. The home maximizes passive cooling with a courtyard that creates a microclimate, operable walls for natural ventilation, and a roof with generous overhangs for shading. The minimalist exterior contrasts with an eclectic, vibrant interior, reflecting the client’s global travels and merging vintage and contemporary elements.
