Time flows incessantly, accumulating and leading us into the past. In this work, the many layers of tulle, varying in depth and transparency, symbolise the overlapping layers of time. The gradation of colours, created by blending various hues, symbolises the fluctuations of emotions throughout the passage of time. Furthermore, the tulle’s transparency allows the colours to shift depending on the viewing angle, and when backlit, the white threads appear black, offering a glimpse into the past. The lightness and delicate lustre of the tulle fabric represent the transience and beauty of time.
Bio I graduated Musashino junior Art College. Before that I had already graduated from Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, and had completed in music at University of London Goldsmiths' College ICC. Both art and music, I believe, mutually bring a good influence on my artistic expression. In 2009, I met floss silk. Since then, I have been making works of floss silk with some other fabrics. Floss silk can be formed freely and also stretched into a thread easily with hands. So, I use it like drawing and painting.
