Koive (Finnish for "birch") stems from research on architecture and natural environments using light, conducted during my Finland residency. Juha Leiviskä’s churches showed me how subtle shifts in light can be poetically felt in luminous spaces. The birch trees, with their straight trunks and swaying leaves, captivated and inspired me. I envisioned capturing their movement like film frames, and created a membrane-like structure by interweaving processed steel strapping. The forms, shaped by pulling and warping, create a space that resonates with its surroundings.
