Two legendary pioneers. One, a revolutionary concept in transportation. The other, a new way to generate energy. A century apart in their inception.

The last remaining electric rail car of its kind comes from a simple time in the “Valley of Heart’s Delight” when Strauss waltzes and Souza marches played at local gatherings when genuine Norman Rockwell look-alike families took the “Interurban” to the country for Sunday picnics. It has witnessed war, Spanish flu, depression and the Baby Boom.

Then came the development of wind power, providing not only the electricity to drive modern-day cousins of Car 52 as they inter-connect the Silicon Valley of the 21st Century, but power businesses and homes of millions of people, many of whom don’t even know Strauss or Souza, but know Facebook, Google, Netflix and Jay-Z instead.

Two legends with a common bond, yet so very different.
