Built in 1871, Mayo is the busiest hospital in Pakistan's most populated province the Punjab. With 20 thousand daily visitors both and little upkeep, buildings and grounds show signs of wear and tear. Lahore based design firm AEDL's rehabilitation project at Mayo Lahore creates a balance between historic building features and elements added over time. The renovation of the 19th century reception hall was executed with sensitivity to design elements used in the heritage structure but also infused the space with contemporary elements such as bespoke chandeliers and furniture.
