Ricardo Lopes is a pioneer in the lighting and architecture industry, serving as the founder of IES IADAL and a recognized leader in the field. With over a decade of experience coordinating cutting-edge graduate programs in Lighting and Interior Design, as well as supervising undergraduate studies in Photography and Audiovisual Production, Ricardo combines academic excellence with real-world innovation.
With a Master’s degree in Health, Laboratory Medicine and Forensic Technology from UERJ, Ricardo brings a multidisciplinary approach to each project. His expertise has earned him the prestigious role of judge for the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) international lighting competitions for 10 years, from 2011 to 2023. He also serves as a voting member of the Residence Lighting Recommendations Committee and as a consultant on safety lighting standards, shaping global lighting trends.
In addition to his technical genius, Ricardo has been a judge at high-profile cultural events such as the Rio de Janeiro Carnival and the London International Creative Competition (LICC) in 2023 and 2024, reflecting his ability to combine creativity with technical precision.
