My work expresses the angst and consequences of treatment related to breast cancer in the hope that it will increase our confidence in talking about this insidious disease. What I have learnt from the brave women that modelled for me is that cancer is not something that you overcome - or a battle you can win. Nor can you ever fully believe or say that you are a survivor, it is a relentless struggle. I wanted to create a visual and effective language to better explain the trauma endured by women with breast cancer; a disease that now affects 1 in 7 women during their lifetime. Size 76cmx102cm
