Urban mushrooms are unwanted creatures on the street or in your backyard. They are called mushrooms because they seem not meant to be there but grow out of where no one is taking care of. More than just weeds, they indicate there are spaces underground that we don’t see from the streets. They were built for ventilation, but we barely notice them, and we certainly don’t appreciate their function. Just like we don’t consciously understand the living bacterial on our body. These vents are the microbial culture in the urban landscape.
