Portrayal
Collaged Digital Photographs mounted on canvas 64" X 48" The final images are about reality and imperfection. The colour comes in and out, becoming saturated then drained; the edges sharp then faded; the geometries that I've introduced interrupt the idea of the images as reality but do not fragment the subjects. At the same time, they deconstruct that other reality of perfection which the fashion world exerts. In the end they deconstructed my own death grip on that same perfectionism. Rather than fixed images I intend them as layered portrayals, still shifting and changing in the light.
Bio Gerard Yunker has been working as a professional photographer throughout North America for more than 30 years. His extensive career includes high-profile clients and agencies shooting a variety of styles including industrial, commercial, energy and fashion. His fascination with light, feeling, and emotion has culminated into an impressive body of work that allows him to capture images—whether assets, products or people—in a captivating and compelling way.
