Gonçalves is a Brazilian city in the state of Minas Gerais. High mountains, deep valleys and many streams make up the landscape that attracts many tourists. In this context, we created the project for the Ruda cabins. We designed 2 types of contemporary cabins, 8 units in total, spread over the lot of 20,000m² and connected by pedestrian walkways. Pre-fabrication processes of the structure, made of laminated wood, were the solution to enable construction in an isolated environment. To generate the least possible environmental impact, materials such as stone and wood are all local.

Flavio Castro had the opportunity to start designing and building early, with only 20 years old. Flavio defends that practical experience completes academic theory, and has always worked in these two areas, with experience in architectural firms inside and outside Brazil. After three years of Masters in Barcelona, he returned to Brazil and settled in São Paulo, founding FCstudo in 2009. The collaboration system that exists within the office allows a constant exchange of information among professionals who join the team depending on each project´s demand.
