Ryan and Alfie: The Teenage Fishers

This piece was produced as part of my MA coursework for the Anthropology of Urban Space, Place and Architecture module at SOAS, University of London. The images images and audio were made over a series of visits to Walthamstow Reservoirs, London. I was struck by Ryan and Alfie's enthusiasm and unwavering dedication to fishing and it made me think about the representation of modern-day teenagers in contemporary society. I am fascinated by the transition from childhood to adulthood and how every teenager experiences these formative years in a very individual way. This is an ongoing project about the passions and interests of teenagers in London. Other works in progress include an urban horse rider, a female goalkeeper and a teenage politician.
