What if I fail in the pursuit of my dreams? Worse still, what if I become content with that failure, without the ambition to keep trying. I wrestle with these questions constantly, and I’ve attempted to express them through a hands on series of large scale collages. I am using a variety of textures, layers, paints, papers, and drawings. With little pre-planning, I create individual elements as the piece progresses, and by using a a collage format I am free to play around with their placement within the different environments. This approach enabled me to explore my fear of the unknown, and resulted in pieces that are full of texture and dimensionality that is much better appreciated in person.
