The Kissing Booth

This series 'The Kissing Booth' was made in February 2010 at the 'Wrong Love' event, A Foundation, Liverpool.

This series stems from my interest in the relationship between performance, documentation and the power relationships inherent in photographic portraiture.

Participants drawn from the audience at the event were invited into a blacked out room to have an encounter with an unknown other. A curtain separating the people in the room was drawn and the participants were invited to kiss each other, at which moment the cable release was pressed by one of the participants. The photograph was made and the harsh flash revealed the identities of the two participants to each other, too late of course to register on the image. The two participants were given one instant 5x4 Polaroid print of the result.
