The First Assembly of God Church was originally built in the 1950s as a colonial style church building in Hong Kong. The project is to renovate the main hall from its original white-washed concrete wall and ceiling finish into a warmer, friendlier and more contemporary space with improved lighting and acoustics for its congregation. All of the originals wood bench seatings are to remain. Our design is to suspended linear wood slats over its gable-roofed ceiling structure to form moving wave forms like the wings of a bird. These wings symbolize the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the believers which is foundational to the theology of the Assemblies of God denomination. Similar wave forms are echoed on the 2 sides of the hall. Sound insulation is laid behind these slats to improve the acoustics of the hall.
